This year, I co-founded and serve as president for Toward Reconciliation, a group dedicated to regional conflict resolution. I also represent Columbia College on Dr. Jeff Sachs’ Earth Institute Student Advisory Board and participate in the Science Core Pilot class. In the past, I sat on the Commission of Elections Nominations and Appointments (CENA), founded the Hillel Drama Society, acted with Barnard College Musical Theatre, and was a member of the Fencing Team.

Biography:

“Running for CCSC E-board? Weren’t you going to graduate this year?” I’ve been hearing that a lot lately. I planned on graduating a year early, but recently decided that I would be a fool to pass up on my senior year at Columbia College. When Rohit asked me to run with PULSE, I knew I had made the right decision; here was an opportunity to devote myself to the school that had provided me with so much. I am honored to run with the ridiculously talented and dedicated members of the PULSE Party. There are so many things each of us loves about this school, but still so many areas in which we seek improvement.

It’s not too difficult to identify the major issues; coming up with solutions to address them is the tough part. I believe that funding is at the root of nearly every issue on this campus, from financial aid concerns, to student group needs, to job opportunities. As VP Policy, I pledge to work with the administration or, if need be, fight against them, to address students’ growing concerns. The PULSE Party many innovative ideas to improve college life at Columbia. Personally, I am extremely passionate about financial aid reform and creating a strong connection between students and alumni. Reforming financial aid goes well beyond changing over from student loans to grants; it begins with the students currently on campus, with reduced work-study requirements, summer stipends for internships in public interest, and financial aid packages for transfer and international students. Our alumni have long been absent from the Morningside campus, but PULSE’s 25th Year Reunion Mentors program will bring them back. Alumni from each 25th year reunion class will serve as mentors to incoming first-years, providing them with advice, connections in the job market, and a strong link to Columbia College’s history. Check out our platform for more information about these and other important issues that affect Columbia College students. Find out what PULSE can do for you.
